NCCX Kicks Off 30th Anniversary!

It's our 30th Anniversary! Join NCCX for a special year celebrating cyclocross across the state!

We're just a week away from kicking off the 30th anniversary edition of the North Carolina Cyclo-Cross Series!

Here's all the NCCX news you need to get ready to race!

Special Edition!

We've worked with Chloe Holzapfel to create a limited edition run of NCCX cards! These cards reflect this year's races, the history of NCCX, and a few extras that will be given out at surprise drops throughout the season!

The first 150 racers to register for each day will receive the card of the day (and first 350 at the NCGP!).  Don't miss a race to collect all 15 cards!

A Message from Tim:

30 years of NCCX! Yes, it's been that long; help celebrate three decades of cyclo-cross racing in North Carolina. Birthday presents will help keep the legacy and celebration of this achievement!

Consider donating $30, $300, or even $3000 for the past 30 years of NCCX. Gifts will get you a candle with your name on the NCCX cake!

Running the NCCX series has become more expensive each year, and I'm trying to keep costs reasonable. For decades, I have kept the low cost of racing as a core value. As a racer and event organizer, I want that to continue.

You can add on your gift during registration on BikeReg or contact Tim for other options. Thank you for supporting NCCX!

Volunteers Needed!

Many of you have been with NCCX for years and remember the days when USAC teams and clubs were required to host races. This meant that clubs and teams around the state hosted races in the NCCX calendar, with the stakes being collected each week by local racers to travel to their next stop on the circuit.

Over the years, the ability for teams to host has declined, as well as the requirement. NCCX has stepped up to ensure races each weekend in season regardless, but we need your help!

Our small crew works the days before a race to build the course, and stays well into the dark at many races cleaning up before heading to the next venue, or driving hours back home. We all love the NCCX community and hosting fun races each week for you, and ourselves to race, but to keep it sustainable, need more hands to build, and especially clean up each race.

Previous experience isn't required, we'd love to show more racers how to facilitate races and build cx courses! Even if you can share a couple of hours with us to set it, it goes a long way!

We also need a lot of help cleaning up each race – the more hands pulling tape and collecting and bagging stakes, the quicker it goes and the sooner we can get to the next venue! Breakdown begins as soon as the elite men's race concludes. Many of you ask how we do it all – we do it all because we love to, but it does wear us out!

Please sign up for a shift here or there throughout the season here

Big thanks to our team partners across the state who are jumping in and helping build their race weekend courses - Velocious Sport, Slippery Sasquatch Birdsong, Legion Brewing, CyclePath and the Jim Mead crew, and new this year, CycleWorks in Dobson! We appreciate you!

Dry and sunny conditions welcomed racers to the second day of the NCGP weekend in Hendersonville, NC. The race weekend, presented by Hunter Subaru, is the final stop on the USA Cycling Cyclocross National Series calendar. The day two race course featured several course changes, including a double-180 transverse on the Collegiate Off Camber and 180 turn to approach the barriers in reverse. The course also brought back the traditional “Wall,” a steep grass ascent with a paved approach. The elite women started strong keeping together in the first half of the lap. A small group of 4 composed of Ella Brenneman from CXD Trek Bikes, Lizzy Gunsalus of Marion University and current Pan-American Champion, Jolanda Neff, with Cannondale Factory Racing and Lauren Zoerner with Competitive Edge Racing broke away with Brenneman taking the lead into lap two.
